Vanifer is a Spanish flashcard app. We have built it to require as little of your information as possible: none.
Nothing. Vanifer does not require sign-up. We do not collect, store, or transmit personal information. We do not run analytics, advertising, attribution, or third-party tracking SDKs of any kind.
The flashcard deck — both the cards we ship and the ones you add yourself — is stored locally on your device, in your app’s private documents folder. iOS encrypts this data at rest with your device passcode. If you uninstall Vanifer, this data is deleted.
We also store a small number of preferences via Apple’s standard UserDefaults system (e.g. the last-synced deck version). These do not contain personal information.
Vanifer makes exactly one type of network request: a public HTTPS GET to a GitHub-hosted URL to fetch the latest community-curated flashcard deck. This request:
The URL is currently https://raw.githubusercontent.com/andyseavers/vanifer-deck/main/deck.json. If we move it in a future release we will update this page.
GitHub may log the IP address of the requesting device as part of its standard server-side logging. Vanifer’s developers do not have access to those logs.
Vanifer is appropriate for all ages and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
If we change anything material, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where the change is significant, post a notice in the app’s update notes.
